Coming to America because. . . ?

One of the nice things about spending time with my relatives in "red" California (Orange County) every now and then is to hear what the "other" Californians believe about the world. Today, I learned that people actually parrot the Republican Party line: America has the best health care in the world, and that's why people are coming to this country.

WHAT?

Horton Hears a Who

Schwartzenegger nominated Jerome Horton as his pick for the Board of Equalization. He is by far the most conservative of the three names mentioned as potential replacements. He's also the weakest potential candidate for election (politically speaking), the most conservative, and the least favorite among Democratic groups.

The next campaign

With Board of Equalization vice chair Judy Chu heading to Washington comes the matter of filling the vacancy her congressional win has created.

Political Theater in Rosemead

In addition to today's election, there's also a city council meeting in Rosemead. Enjoy the show as Maggie Clark "saves" the senior lunches.

Vote on Tuesday!

Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 14) is election day! Remember to vote for Judy Chu for U.S. Congress!

Credit Where Credit is Due

I guess now that they no longer want to undermine the credibility of the Rosemead City Council, the SGV Tribune is now willing to run positive news developments out of Rosemead. For example, here's a story about tree planting and street paving.

Stick a fork in him, he's done

With 86.5% of the precincts reporting, Judy Chu leads Gil Cedillo by over 3,800 votes. I'm not at the Judy Chu headquarter tonight, but I'm sure they must have started celebrating!

Congratulations, Judy!

For those who can't wait until the polls close. . .

This post on Calitics that suggests Chu is favored. Of course, I always assumed this to be true and wondered why people thought Cedillo was considered by many to be the front runner.
