There Ought to be a Law!

Proposals must be submitted by December 14.

Mike Eng in Rosemead

Assemblymember Eng has two events scheduled in Rosemead in the coming week:

Wednesday, November 7, 7-8:30pm, City of Rosemead Council Chambers (8838 E. Valley Blvd).  This is for a policy briefing on the Extraordinary Session on Water.  Update on water-related policy actions taken by the state legislature, and on issues facing the legislature.  For more info or to RSVP, e-mail: Jacqueline.ruiz@asm.ca.gov

Rosemead City Clerk Leaving

This story appeared in the Tribune and Star-News on Sunday.

Rosemead’s City Clerk, Nina Castruita, is resigning her full-time job in Rosemead to take a part-time job in San Gabriel. She says she needs to scale back her workload. Do you think maybe she’s leaving because she doesn’t want to have to spend every other Tuesday in city council chambers until 11pm or even one in the morning while certain council members and wannabe council members play to their Rosemead Partners base?

Sale of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center

Catholic Healthcare West wants to sell the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center (located in the city of San Gabriel, at the corner of Santa Anita and Las Tunas) to AHMC Healthcare, incorporated.  AHMC already owns a number of other hospitals in the area, including Greater El Monte Community Hospital, Whittier Hospital/Medical Center, Garfield Medical Center, and Monterey Park Hospital.

Garcia Calderon Ruiz

Well, now that the brouhaha over Alvarez-Glasman & Colvin is over, it looks like it’s on to Garcia Calderon Ruiz. The SGV Tribune had this article in today’s paper, continuing a theme from an earlier article, that questioned the firm’s $50K+ bill for May. Although I’m pretty sure the folks pressing the billing story are just using this to mention the lawsuit against John Nunez as often as possible (and, of course, to continue their build up to the March 2009 election), the story would have had little traction were it not for Garcia’s history.
