Traffic Commission meeting this Thursday, March 6th!

Even though only the Planning Commission meeting has made it on to the City's Website calendar as of this writing, we nonetheless have a full week for meetings even without City Council.
We have two major items on this month's agenda.  First, in response to a request from Commissioner Hunter, we will be looking at a proposal to eliminate on-street parking on Muscatel Ave. immediately north and south of Valley, so as to add 50-foot dedicated left-turn lanes for both north- and southbound traffic.  Second, city staff has in recent months received a number of requests for the installation of blue (disabled access) curb in the City.  Because the City currently has no policy on blue curbs, staff is in turn requesting direction from the Commission regarding a citywide policy on their installation.  (It should be noted that blue curb is intended more for residential uses, though I believe I have seen them used in commercial areas in other cities.)
Additionally, the Commission will be receiving an oral report on recent Field Services activities, and we may also be discussing the traffic study request process and how it relates to budget estimates for the upcoming (Fiscal Year 2008-09) budget.
Lastly, we will, of course, be hearing public comments from the audience, both on the above and on any other concerns you may have.  We look forward to seeing you!
