Sorry to see "Garvey Parents" go

I am sorry to see "Garvey Parents" leaving this blog.

When I started "http://thetruthaboutgarvey.com" I wanted to draw attention to some of the problems we have encountered since Dr. Johnson arrived in the Garvey School District. She has changed much, but there are still good things going on in the District. We have been working for years to engage students in learning and the work has been paying dividends. More about that another time.

Regardless of how anyone feels about what is going on at Garvey, I always want to hear all sides. I think parents are an integral part of the District. I want to see them included in the decisions about where the District should go. I don't like that they are being pitted against other groups such as the teachers. We should all be working together for the success of our students, not tearing each other down.

Habit 5 of the Seven Habits which is part of the Garvey School District culture is "Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood." I try to get the whole picture before trying to share my opinion.

I was hoping for dialogue with parents here on this blog, or on "http://thetruthaboutgarvey.com" but it seems that won't happen. I hope I haven't helped to chase anyone form public discourse. We can all learn from each other, and we all have something meaningful to say.

I am a parent

Hello all, I am actually preparing a speech on this topic and will be presenting it to my peers this coming Monday, on July 1st, 2013 at East Los Angeles College. I picked recall Janet Chin as my assignment, in hopes to further persuade the importance on the topic. I also, just wanted to let you all know, there are parents who still care.
