Cal Grant & Financial Aid Workshops--Saturday, February 9, 9am until noon:  Area students adn their parents can get free help filling out their FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) forms.  FAFSA forms are the standard form you need to fill out to qualify for any federal or state financial aid for colleges.  Three locations:  Alhambra High School, 101 S. 2nd Street, Alhambra, CA  91801; East Los Angeles College, 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA  91754; South El Monte High School, 1001 Durfee Ave., South El Monte, CA  91706.  To RSVP or for more information, call 626-450-6116

Nominations for 49th Assembly District Woman of the Year Award.  Nomination forms due by noon, Tuesday, February 12.  Nominees must reside, work in, or provide services to the 49th Assembly District.

California State Legislature Adopts Resolution Honoring Japanese American World War II Heroes.  The legislature approved Assembly Joint Resolution (AJR 33), authored by Assemblymember Mike Eng, urging the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee of the U.S. Postal Service to approve a commemorative postage stamp honring the Japanese American veterans who served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
