The California Poppies have reached peak bloom in the Antelope Valley. This is California's answer to Autumn leaf peeping in the Northeast.

The Antelope Valley California State Natural Reserve is located west of the Antelope Valley Freeway (CA-14). Exit on Avenue I and head west, past the big stadium. $8 entry fee for the reserve. Plenty of flowers blooming outside of the reserve, too.
