Referendum in Azusa?

It'll be interesting to see if opponents of the Vulcan Mining expansion in Azusa succeed in getting a referendum on the proposed changes. Our experience in Rosemead suggests the big company's supporters on the council will find a way to keep the issue off the ballot.

Official State Rock is No Star

At least not as far as our state senator, Gloria Romero, is concerned. She wants to remove a rock called "serpentine," which is basically asbestos in its raw form, from the state's list of official things.

Target used a helicopter to place a/c units on the roof of the store they're building in Azusa. The pictures accompanying the story reminded me of an event in Rosemead, a few years ago.

Thank goodness PGE is so bad!

If it wasn't for their own customers knowing how bad PGE could be, Proposition 16 would probably have passed.

Instead, areas served by PGE provided the majority "No" vote to keep the electric giant from getting an even stronger stranglehold on their monopoly.

White Lighting is Green

LED street lights use a fraction of the electricity of sodium pressure lighting. Los Angeles is in the process of switching over. As long as they do the shielding properly, this should be a win for the environment and for the city residents who are afraid of the dark.
