Interesting story on Yahoo tonight. The title says it all: So-called Generation Y folks (age 21-30) are buying fewer cars and driving them less than previous generations.

So maybe there's some hope for this planet, after all.

Wal-Mart Looking to Emulate Tesco

In Europe, Tesco (the owner of Fresh and Easy) is like Wal-Mart: The largest retailer in the land. They have a mixture of stores, from large, supercenter-like behemoths to smaller markets.

Looks like Wal-Mart is going to try that approach in the US.

Kidnapping Drama

This story has been developing over the past week. As I recall, the kidnapping of a Monterey Park woman started in Arcadia. She was dumped for dead in the high desert, and the kidnapper attempted to pick up the ransom in the parking lot of the Hawaii Supermarket in San Gabriel (corner of Del Mar and Valley).
