US Postal Workers' Annual Food Drive - May 10th!

Don't forget to put food out that day for your local postal worker to pick up!  People for People, a food pantry serving Rosemead and most surrounding communities, also needs your help!  They need volunteers to help sort the food at the post offices, sorter/consolidators at their warehouse in San Gabriel, truck drivers (especially!), and drivers to shuttle the truck drivers before and after they drive.
For volunteer or other information, please call Noreen Rand of People for People at (626) 285-2549, Tuesday - Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or Tom Rand on his cell phone at (626) 213-4682.

Temporary Meeting Location Until July(?)

It looks like until at least July, all City meetings will continue be held in the Rosemead Community Recreation Center, at 3936 N. Muscatel Ave., behind the library.

Planning and Traffic will be in Room 8 (down the hall to the right).
City Council, Community Development and related meetings will be in the big room straight ahead when you enter.

(Temporary) New Meeting Location!

Starting with the March 3rd Planning Commission, and continuing until the renovation/updating of the council chambers is complete - undetermined, but probably at least 2 - 3 months down the road - *all* council/commission meetings will be moved over the wall to the Rosemead Community Recreation Center, at 3936 N. Muscatel Ave.  That is the center directly behind the library and City Hall

Planning Commission meeting Monday, March 3rd!

The Planning Commission has three Public Hearings scheduled for this meeting.  The first is for a two-story addition to a single-family residence at 2440 Pine St in the R-2 zone in southern Rosemead.  Also, there is a request for an extension on a plan to subdivide the single parcel at 8646 Grand Ave (R-1 zone in northwestern Rosemead) into five single-family residential lo

Valley Vision Plan meeting this Wednesday, March 5th!

The only places I've noticed this mentioned so far are in the Planning Commission's March 3rd agenda, and the City Website (scroll down), but I just wanted to let everyone know that a community meeting regarding the Valley Vision Plan is scheduled for this Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  This is somewhat different from the previous General Plan and Mixed-Use Guidelines meetings

Traffic Commission meeting this Thursday, March 6th!

Even though only the Planning Commission meeting has made it on to the City's Website calendar as of this writing, we nonetheless have a full week for meetings even without City Council.
We have two major items on this month's agenda.  First, in response to a request from Commissioner Hunter, we will be looking at a proposal to eliminate on-street parking on Muscatel Ave.

Eastside Extension... to Whittier? to Industry?

I got this in a mass email from Molina's office:

Most First District residents are aware of the Gold Line Eastside Extension, which will connect East L.A. to the rest of L.A. County’s light rail network. But not everyone knows that Metro is planning to extend this line even further east. There are 17 different route proposals along three major corridors: One would extend the line to the City of Industry along the 60 Freeway while the other two would extend it to Whittier. No proposal is set in stone--but all possibilities are very exciting.

Traffic Commission Meeting on February 7th

At the next Traffic Commission meeting, we will be considering two items.

Tony's Liquor at 9442 E. Valley Blvd. has requested 20-minute green striping in front of its store to prevent extended parking by non-customers.

Additionally, at Chairwoman Knapp's request, we will be considering red striping southbound Mission Drive from a 45 foot stretch in front of the Fashion Park Apartments down to the auto repair shop next to it.  The remaining stretch, fronting Mr.
