We Still Like Mike!

Mike Eng's official website is:  http://democrats.assembly.ca.gov/members/a49/

A couple of Mike-related issues:

1. I don't know about you, but I've gotten a robo-call and several mailers from the casino Indians (Morongo, Agua Caliente, etc) trying to bully Mike and the state assembly into signing off on the governor's gaming compacts.  Bascially, they want permission to put in more machines without having to up the share of the winnings that would go to the state.  I, on the other hand, believe in sharing the wealth.  So, although we obviously don't have the pull of the big gaming tribes, why don't you visit Mike Eng's website and give some counter-weight to the casino bosses.  Tell him to vote NO on AB 266!

2.  Also, Mike is holding a health care townhall meeting on Saturday, May 12.  For some reason, there's no information on his website about that.  So send him an e-mail (there's a link on his homepage) if you're interested.

3.  Thursday, May 24, 4:30pm - 6:30 pm is his Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration.  That one's going to be in the Garvey Community Center in Rosemead (on Garvey, at the far eastern end of the city).  Information about this event IS currently on his official homepage.

4.  Finally, he's holding a fundraiser on May 31 in Monterey Park.  Yes, it's ridiculously early to be having to raise money for an assembly race in 2008.  But he does need to be ready, particularly if the casino Indians decide to try to "take him out" in the primary.  And, good news for SOCers:  He has a "cheap bastard" special price for us (no, that's not what he's calling it).  So if you're interested in supporting Mike at the $50 or above rate, e-mail this site (news at saveourcommunity dot us).  Or, if you have their phone numbers, feel free to call Susan Young, Todd Kunioka, or any of the regulars.  They'll be able to make the necessary arrangements.
