BIG Signs on Private Property

If you've been driving around Rosemead, you may have noticed that now we've got a few BIG signs touting the "YES" side of the recall debate.  Volunteers painted those signs, which we are having posted on private property.

One of those big signs came up at the corner of Valley and Rio Hondo over the weekend.  Turns out there were already a few signs posted on the property by Wal-Mart sock puppets.  So as our sign went up, theirs came down.

A sock puppet took exception to this, stopped his car to snap pictures of the signs coming down, and hollered various vulgarities at our volunteers.

Well, bud, just one thing to say:  It's private property.  We have permission of the owner to post our signs there, and you don't.

Have a nice day.

What part of "private property" don't they understand?

Apparently, the Wal-Mart sock puppets still think they can put their signs up anywhere in the city, regardless of who owns the land.  Sock puppet signs appeared again at the corner of Valley and Rio Hondo.  They have been removed, again.  YOU CAN'T POST YOUR SIGNS ON SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION!!!

Of course, this isn't the first time these guys have shown a total disregard for private property.  Their signs have shown up on other private property parcels, too.  They've even been placed on the homes of our own SOC supporters.  Isn't it pathetic that those guys have so much money that they need to waste it on signs that they know are being placed illegally?

SPEAKING OF BIG SIGNS

ON THE INTERNET, TYPING IN ALL-CAPITAL LETTERS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF SHOUTING.  I WOULD SAY THAT GOING OVERBOARD ON YARD SIGNS IS ALSO LIKE SHOUTING.  THOSE DEAD-ENDERS BACKING JAY AND GARY ARE SURE DOING A LOT OF SHOUTING.

DRIVE UP WALNUT GROVE, NORTH OF MISSION.  THREE HOUSES.  EACH HAS A LARGE, PUKE-YELLOW BILLBOARD, PROBABLY 8X5 FEET.  EACH OF THOSE BILLBOARDS HAS A "STANDARD" YARD SIGN HANGING FROM IT, PROBABLY 3X2, IN THE "NO TRESPASSING," ORANGE ON BLACK COLORS.  ON TOP OF EACH OF THE 8X5 SIGNS IS ANOTHER, NARROW, 1X3 FOOT, BLUE, YELLOW, AND GREEN ON WHITE, "NO ON RECALL" SIGN.

I'VE SEEN SIMILAR DISPLAYS ON OTHER HOMES.  SOME HAVE FIVE OR MORE YARD SIGNS.  OTHERS HAVE THE BIG BILLBOARD-SIZED SIGN, AND THEN TWO OR THREE OTHER YARD SIGNS AROUND THE HOUSE.

UNLESS THEY'RE WORRIED THAT SOME OF US ARE COLORBLIND, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO PLACE SO MANY SIGNS THAT SAY THE SAME THING IN YOUR YARD?  IT STRIKES ME AS SHOUTING AT YOUR NEIGHBORS.

DO THEY THINK THAT THEY CAN MAKE UP FOR IN VOLUME WHAT THEY LACK IN NUMBERS?

don't they think they can convince anybody by speaking quietly and relying on the facts?

it's the same with their flyers.  they are recycling many of the same tired lies and distortions they trotted out last summer.

it's sad, really.  after thirty years sitting on city council, they can't run a postitive campaign.  they need to keep shouting falsehoods at the top of their lungs, and hope nobody notices that their little emperors have no clothes.
