Money talks; Wal-Mart Screams

Wal-Mart and its development partner in El Monte are making tens of thousands dollars in contributions to several El Monte council members. In exchange, they're going to get millions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies to build a store. The proposed site is at Valley and Santa Anita.

I think this may qualify as another case of the 99% paying so the 1% can get wealthier.

Now what?

Looks like the election might've thrown a wrench in the works. It certainly didn't pan out for Wal*Mart's candidates.

Good link; thanks for the information. I don't know enough about El Monte politics, so I wonder if they're really independent, or if they were backed by another faction in El Monte?
