Deaths on the Train Tracks

Two fatalities near the 8800 block of Grand Avenue this morning, as two Rosemead residents were found dead near the tracks that run along the northern portion of our city.

Polly Low Fundraiser

A reminder that Polly Low's fundraiser is April 22. The RSVP date was supposed to be April 12, but I suspect if you contact her and say you want to attend, she'll make arrangements to accommodate you.

Rosemead Reserves: $21 million

I saw at our last city council meeting that the city's reserve fund is $21 million. Wouldn't that be impossible if, as was claimed by certain current city council members, the previous majority was spending the city into bankruptcy? How did the reserve GROW while this alleged spending spree was going on?

A sign of things to come

There must be state or federal dollars available to replace street signs, because I've noticed new signs in several area cities.

Amusing editorial in the SGV Tribune today. Apparently, they think this is a good idea everywhere else but Rosemead. I guess they subscribe to the mantra that consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.

San Bernardino Fwy Ramp Closures


Wondering why these signs are popping up all over the valley? They're being placed in advance of a major Caltrans construction project along the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10), between the 710 and 605 freeways. Extended ramp closures in both directions will be occuring for the next six months or so.

The San Gabriel Valley Journal (on-line) headline reads, "Taylor New Rosemead Mayor, Lo is Pro Tem." The story reports that Gary Taylor was elected as Rosemead's new mayor, while Polly Lo was elected mayor pro tem.
