Super Delegates versus the Peoples' Vote?

in

Will our next president be decided by the will of the people or by super delegates?

We all know by now McCain is on his way to winning all the delegate votes needed to win the Republican nomination.

However, Obama, although slightly ahead of Hilary, is almost neck to neck in delegate votes. So potentially, super delegates may be the deciding factor at selecting the Democratic nominee for president.

Non-English Speaking Gardeners Using Storm Drains

I just caught my neighbors' (pleural) gardeners leaf blowing grass and hedge trimmings DOWN OUR STORM DRAIN! You know, just after this weekend's recent storms, the local media showed the junk from our storm drains that end up in the Long Beach Bay (I used to live in Belmont Shores BTW), and it was beyond gross. I know some of you will bark at the fact that I used the term "non-English speaking", but, this is to differentiate them from the Japanese gardeners of the past, who took overall pride in their profession and were responsible for some of the most beautiful landscapes in the San Gabriel Valley (most notably San Marino).

Rant: Valero on Paramount and Arroyo

in

I filled up with gas at the Valero on Paramount and Arroyo.  Whoever designed that gas station was a moron.

Let me elaborate.  The pumps are "covered" by a roof, as is typical of many gas stations.

Ever wonder what the function of the roof is?  I used to think it was to protect you from the elements while you refueled your car.  But that is clearly not the case.  Instead, the roof is entirely for show--it serves no useful purpose.

Don't take revenge, be happy

I found this article to be very enlightening, something I practice often, but have to be reminded of now and then.  I hope everyone can get something out of it.  I think it would make us ALLOT HAPPIER lol!!!

Jobs for Rosemead? The Real Stats

in

I was wondering what the unemployment situation is like, and went to the EDD's California Labor Market site. http://www.labormarketinfo.edd.ca.gov/ On that site, you can generated graphs of labor market data, to see trends in employment (among other things). To see if Wal-Mart's arrival caused our unemployment rates to drop, I did a search on 2006 unemployment rates in Rosemead and surrounding communities.

Truth

Well congrats to you I hope you let Polly do her job and not make her your puppet. Don't forget that theres alot of Rosemead and not just where you all live. And if she wants to start cleaning up the city she should start with San Gabriel Bl and Garvey Ave where the day labors and street people hang out all day doing nothing but bringing the property value down. Also you union people was hating on Walmart for help people who needed jobs and helping me stop paying stop paying them from my tax money.

Year of the Boar

There was a disappointingly small turnout at the candidates forum this evening.  It's a shame, because, as Yogi Berra once said, "You can observe a lot by watching."

I observed Jay Imperial interrupt his own response to a question to check his ringing cell phone.  THREE TIMES!!!  For goodness sake!  You're at a candidates forum, and you're a candidate, up there on the stage, with four other candidates and a moderator.  If the phone rings while you're speaking on the stage, apologize, then turn it off immediately.  Don't check to see who the call's from.  And don't check to see who the SECOND call is from.  And do not, under any circumstances, check to see who the THIRD call is from.  Show a little respect for the dignity of the office and dignity of the event.
