This week, the City Council revisited the Dog Show being put on by the California Mission Inn to support the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society.

They say you judge a man by the company he keeps. Mike Lewis spends a lot of time with the garbage men who run Athens, and apparently ran an illegal campaign to elect a number of Temple City Council members.

Oh, yeah: Mike also hangs with Maggie Clark and Steven Ly. . . .

I'm not how this whole "controversy" rates a front page story, but there it was this morning. Two household, being offered a very generous buyout to let a property owner develop his own property?

No surprise here: a city (Rialto) approved a Wal-Mart supercenter without an adequate environmental impact report. Looks like judges in San Bernardino County are better than Los Angeles County judges on enforcing the Brown Act, and the state's environmental laws.

Officer-involved shooting in Rosemead. Story says The "9200 block of Rosemead Blvd," but they probably mean 9200 block of Rosemead Place, or the 9200 block of some street that crosses Rosemead Blvd.

Well, maybe. The California Mission Inn (on Mission, between Delta and Earle) has scheduled a dog show and walk to raise money for the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society (on Grand, west of Earle and across the border in San Gabriel). The event would be on Saturday, August 29 from 8am to 4pm.

Last Friday was '50s music in Garvey Park. This Friday is '60s (Beatles) music in Rosemead Park.

Thanks to John Tran, John Nunez and Polly Low, we got a start to concerts in the park. I understand the new majority is rolling those back pretty severely next year, though.

Maybe it's a defense mechanism that tries to keep me convinced this can't happen to me, but most of these foreclosure stories have me shaking my head. How long have you been missing payments? Shouldn't you have been able to sock away a LOT of money during the past 18 months of no payments? Why are your payments so large for such a small mortgage?
