Rosemead "Partners" rears its ugly head, again

They've sent out some more distorting mailers. And who's paying for them? Well, see, that's the tricky part. The money's from a "yard sale." So, basically, they can launder their contributions by "purchasing" items from each other, and no one knows how much anyone's giving. Yep, fine way to evade state FPPC regulations. You'd think they'd want to do something about that, wouldn't you?

Maggie Clark wants to invade your property!

There's an animal control ordinance on the agenda for tomorrow's city council meeting. Imagine what sort of mailers Maggie Clark would be sending if she was still running for reelection. . . .

*****

City bureaucrats could DEMAND ENTRY INTO YOUR HOME to enforce this ordinace, and YOU COULD BE ARRESTED if you tried to stop them!

Signs of the Time

By which I mean, "election time." In addition to the signs for long-defunct campaigns (Chris Agrella? Betty Chu? Clarence Wong?), I've noticed some signs for school board candidates who are running in the November 3 election. In the Rosemead School District, I've seen plenty of signs for Francis Chavez, Robert Tran and Tracy Loa.

SGVN Makes Excuses for Monrovia, Not for Rosemead

This story was in the SGV Tribune a few days ago. There's nothing I disagree with in it, other than the timing. Funny, isn't it, how when the city targeted is favored, there's an excuse for a $300K+ settlement that doesn't involve an admission of guilt. But if the target of the suit is not so favored, well, there are no excuses.

Rosemead Parents Protest After School Cuts

Story in the SGV Tribune, related to the protest before Tuesday night's city council meeting.

Wal-Mart: Not Kinder, Not Gentler

Article in Time magazine about Wal-Mart's Project Impact. Apparently, when you compete against Wal-Mart, there's no such thing as peaceful co-existence.

Protest on Rosemead Blvd

Angry parents took the streets last night, lining Rosemead Blvd at Valley (outside the Rosemead School District's Board of Trustees meeting) with bodies and signs, all protesting the District's massive cutbacks in after school programs.

We haven't seen this many signs since, well, since Wal-Mart came to town.

Organizing for Change--Health Care Forum

August 29, 2-4pm at the City of Hope in Duarte.

Congresswoman Judy Chu is hosting a town hall on health care reform. If past experience is a guide, I would suggest arriving early.
