Letter from Supervisor Molina Re: South San Gabriel

Well, the Supervisor herself was not part of the meeting at Evergreen Baptist Church.  Apparently the meeting was called to inform residents of South San Gabriel about changes to their street sweeping schedule, and the coming imposition of no parking requirements on street sweeping days.  Those of you living on public streets in South San Gabriel can expect to have opposite-side of street parking restrictions for two days following your Monday trash day.  In other words, one side of your street will be swept on either Tuesday or Wednesday, and the opposite side of the street will be swept on either Wednesday or Thursday.  On that morning, should you be ticketed, you can expect a fine of approximately $36 per infraction.

Another Lord Waldemart clip

You'll only find this funny if you like Harry Potter and don't like Wal-Mart.

If you don't like Wal-Mart, by the way, then you've got an interesting dilemma.  Wal-Mart Watch says that Wal-Mart's going to lose money on every copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows they sell.  It's a loss-leader, where they don't mind losing on that one product 'cause they figure you'll buy other things on the way out.

Rosemead and South San Gabriel Announcements

I attended the CDC (because of the recent discussions concerning the appointment of a new counsel) and city council meetings last night, and also chatted with several Rosemead and South San Gabriel friends.  Let me make some quick announcements.  I'll try to be as factual as possible.

     1.  The county's meeting at Evergreen Baptist Church (noted by John in a previous post) is at 6pm today (Wednesday, July 18).  The church is located on the part of San Gabriel Blvd that runs mostly east-west, and it's just west of Don Bosco high school.  It's a county meeting, so it's open to anyone.

No City Council Meeting Tuesday (July 10)

Sorry for the late notice.  The city website didn't have anything posted until some time today, and by the time I found out, I then had trouble getting on to this site to post.  Anyway, it's cancelled, due to lack of a quorum.

Fourth of July Celebration a Success

Wow.  That's all I can say about yesterday's parade.  Notwithstanding a number of snags in preparation and execution, I think that, for a bunch of folks who (for the most part, if not for all of the folks pitching in) have never organized a parade before, Rosemead's Fourth of July Parade went off very well.

Yes, I know that, from my participant's seat, I didn't get to experience the parade like everyone else out on the streets could experience it.  But, judging by the thousands of smiling faces I saw as I rode the back of a ridiculously large and yellow pickup truck, people were having fun.

Fourth of July Parade Line Up

I have pasted a .pdf copy of the lineup of parade participants as it is known to me on July 3.  I notice that several groups that were listed on earlier "confirmed" lists are no longer listed on this final list.  I'll assume they had to drop out, but it is also possible that some additional groups not listed on the attached file may also participate in the parade.

Roger Hernandez Cleared (Again)

It's some what ironic, but the more mud that the old guard slings at Roger Hernandez, the more I think that maybe he's not the problem with the West Covina city council.

Where in the heck did THAT come from?

An unexploded shell in someone's back yard?  WTF?
