Message for Polly Low - Invitation for 2/5/05

The point of this post follow:
1) Ask for your support of Polly Low
2) Invite you you to a fundraiser (against Wal-Mart) this Saturday.
3) Give you some background on Polly's situation.

1) POLLY LOW WILL GIVE US A MAJORITY VOTE
A good friend and co-worker of mine, POLLY LOW, is running for City Council. She will be the third of five candidates in the running, giving us the majority vote in the fight against Walmart.

2) FUNDRAISER THIS SATURDAY
Polly will be holding a fundraiser for her campaign. Sorry for the late notice. Please come and show her your support:
- THIS SATURDAY (2/5/05)
- AMBERWOOD RECREATION ROOM 8324 Rush St., Rosemead, CA
- 12:00 noon.

3) BACKGROUND
Here is an excerpt from an email message which will provide some background:

"...The 5 City Council members have turned deaf ears to the problem and their backs to the residents. All 5 voted for the Wal-Mart project. The residents then collected over 2,500 signatures from Rosemead asking to put the issue on the ballot. Due to a technicality, the City Council turned down the request and the residents did not event get to vote. Many residents want all 5 members removed from office. Well, on MARCH 8, we've got a chance. Three of the members are up for re-election. There are two strong candidates against Wal-Mart, but a third is needed in order to have a majority vote. I was asked by a group of concerned residents to run for City Council as a write-in candidate. As many of you know, I am not a policitican and prefer to stay behind the scenes. But when I saw this group of people and how hard they worked to fight this giant company from destroying the neighborhood, I just did not have the heart to say 'No'. On January 12, I agreed to step up and run in the election."

Polly is a personal friend and co-worker of mine and I can testify that she possesses hardly an inclination to be a "political" figure. She is a manager and puts in a very hard day's work and would rather just be home taking care of her family. I know she goes home exhausted, but the sequence of events described above sparked a fire in her. She verbalized acceptance before she even knew what she was getting into. I give her a lot of credit for stepping up.

Please vote for Polly lOW on MARCH 8.
