Don't forget to put food out that day for your local postal worker to pick up! People for People, a food pantry serving Rosemead and most surrounding communities, also needs your help! They need volunteers to help sort the food at the post offices, sorter/consolidators at their warehouse in San Gabriel, truck drivers (especially!), and drivers to shuttle the truck drivers before and after they drive.

People for People serves needy families in Rosemead, Alhambra, San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Temple City and Arcadia. They need volunteers for post offices in Rosemead, San Gabriel, Temple City, Alhambra, Monterey Park, Baldwin Park, West Covina, Covina, La Verne, Walnut and San Dimas.
Below is a tentative volunteer schedule, though whatever of these hours you might be able to help will be welcomed:
Truck drivers - 10 AM on*
Shuttle drivers - 10 AM on*
Post offices - 2 PM to 5 or 6 PM
Warehouse - 4 PM to 9 or 10 PM (whenever they finish)**
* meet at People for People, 860 E. Mission Dr., San Gabriel
** this is the big school district warehouse space on the east side Del Mar, between Broadway and the railroad tracks
They would prefer you call earlier, but you can also call Tom on the day, and he'll tell you where they might need you.
(Tennis shoes are preferred, but especially no open-toed shoes! Also, for those who might need additional incentives, the post offices and the warehouse generally have some nice drinks and barbecue food for the volunteers. And for anyone who might need/want community service hours, these count!)
