Fish Canyon

Azusa voted to certify the EIR for Azusa Rock's Fish Canyon proposal, but to reject their request to shift mining from the east end of their property to the west end.

That makes things interesting, because if the certification stands, then the Azusa council could later change their mind and approve the project without needing to redo the EIR.

Usually, the thing that prevents a project like this from going forward is a challenge to the environmental impact report. This means that if Duarte (and mining opponents) want to keep all options for fighting this project open, they need to file suit to challenge the certification of the EIR now, even though the project itself was rejected. Very interesting turn of events.
