Faizal Shahzad: was he in a depressive spiral?

Faisal Shahzad: From suburban father to terror suspect.

It sounds like he'd lost everything, and was looking for a way out. Bombing was that way out.

One thing I notice about stories and interviews with suicide bombers is that they seem to be depressed. They don't seem to be bipolar, but were facing a lot of deep problems.

The other thing I've noticed is that these terrorist groups don't try to deal with that -- they seem to encourage people to fall deeper into depression.
