Read the Supremes (the corporate election spending decision)

in

You can read the supreme court decision allowing corporations more free-reign to spend money on politics at the opinions page on the SC website. The case is United States v. Federal Election Commission.

It's really long and confusing to me, but, there it is.

What I thought was interesting was the Associated Press article on it. A search for "biz election spending" brought up the story, with slightly different headlines. Some had "unions" in it, and the others didn't, but they pointed to the same story (I guess there are two headlines, and one includes unions).

The New York Times had a better, more detailed story that delineated the restrictions of the McCain-Feingold law (and the scope of this decision).

Justice Alito dissents

Minor controversy over Justice Alito's "dissent" at yesterday's State of the Union address.
