Crime in the City (of Rosemead) Wed 04/15 Public Safety Meeting

Please come to this meeting if you can. Even with the recent crime reduction trend, burglary numbers have been stubbornly resistant to reduction. This should be a very interesting, enlightening and sobering experience.

Anatomy of a Crime

The City of Rosemead Public Safety Business Unit is hosting its monthly Community Safety Meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Rosemead Public Safety Center, 8301 Garvey Avenue.

At this meeting, participants will learn the importance of "hardening the target" so that residents do not become the next victim of a residential burglary. Recent statistics show that residential thefts have been on the rise in the West San Gabriel Valley.

The Director of Public Safety Services will have an open discussion on reported home burglaries that have occurred in Rosemead between January 2009 to March 2009. The discussion will also include a profile of crimes and statistics to identify trends and commonalities including:
• By Reporting District (RD)
• The date, time, and day of occurrence
• Modus operandi (MO) - how the burglaries enter your home
• Most popular items stolen
• Suspect descriptions, if any

In addition, the workshop will provide tips on how to safe guard homes and how to stay alert to keep burglars out of the community. This is a free workshop and everyone is welcome. This workshop is highly recommended for all Block Captains, Block groups, school officials, business owners, and concerned residents.

These monthly Community Safety Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month. The program is part of the Public Safety's continued efforts to promote personal and neighborhood safety.
