The SGV Journal reports that a "greening" project along San Gabriel Blvd north of Grand Ave is now underway.
I'm curious to see how it turns out. They're using Community Redevelopment dollars for this project, by the way. That's where city property tax revenue is shuttled away into a separate account for community improvements. Rosemead gave a big chunk of their money to the El Monte Union High School district for a new track that is mostly used by students from El Monte. Yeah, it's pretty stupid that Rosemead residents are paying for something to benefit the children of El Monte taxpayers, but what can you expect? Political payback always takes precedence over logic.
