Article on the 30/10 initiative, which would have the feds lend money to the MTA, which the MTA would repay from Measure R funds. We'd get things built faster, and jobs would be created faster (not by November, of course, but faster).

Trouble in the Beautiful Hills

Over the past week, the Tribune's Montebello beat writer sure has been busy. Stories out of Montebello included:

Claims that police officers were assigned quotas for arrests and citations.

The new police chief, and the interim city manager that hired him both appear to have been fired.

Polluted Beaches

The SGV Tribune seems to be opposed to cleaning up our beaches. That's somewhat typical of their provincial approach to policy.

Perhaps reading this story from a few years ago will remind them why cleaning up our storm water runoff matters.

Electoral Fun and Fraud in Montebello

I only know what they put in the paper, and I know that the SGVN papers are far from objective. But here's what they posted yesterday.

I guess if you're termed out and unopposed in your election, you get to spend your money on things that will help raise your visibility for a possible future run for office. Supervisor Gloria Molina just sent me (and probably everyone else in the district) a reusable shopping bag.

Siege Mortar


The Savannah Cemetery newsletter had a story a few months ago about the siege mortar that is near the flagpole in the cemetery. The weapon dates to 1898 and was manufactured by the Watervliet Arsenal in New York state.
