Draft Rosemead General Plan Available On-Line

The Draft Rosemead General Plan is now available on-line on the city's website, www.cityofrosemead.org

I would suggest you NOT click on the link for the plan unless you have a high-speed internet connection, or a LOT of time.  The first two parts are about 5 megabytes each; the last part is less than 1 megabyte, as I recall.  Pretty fast on a high-speed connection, but an eternity if you're on a 56K/second connection.

I believe I also heard that paper copies are available in the Rosemead Library and in city hall.  They may also make cd versions available for purchase.

I've already downloaded it, so if you want a cd version, let me know and I'll burn you a copy (unless I later learn that this would be illegal!).  You'll need Adobe Acrobat to read the .pdf files, no matter how you download the item.

Lots of time to read it

I should let you know that there's plenty of time to read this.  They're only at the scoping process, now.  I'm told that ends on the 19th of December. Then there'll be the draft environmental impact study and report. It's my understanding the hearing on the draft EIR won't be until the end of May.

I handed in some comments last Monday.  Those comments focused on making sure the study considered what would happen if we do NOT adopt a strong mixed-use policy in Rosemead.  The alternative to mixed use is mansionization and a much greater density of retail development than would be permitted under mixed-use.
