ROSEMEAD TRASH CONTRACT

The Rosemead City Council, on Tuesday, March 13th, will award a 10 year exclusive trash removal contract to one of 5 companies who submitted proposals. A very complete and weighted set of criteria was used by the City staff in their evaluation. Staff is recommending the company with the best evaluation, which is Rainbow Environmental Services. Their rates for both commercial and residential service was considerably lower than the other companies.
If the City Council ignores the staff recommendation, and all the fed back they recieved from the residents, then we all will know that the fix is in.
Call City Hall (626) 569-2110 and tell them to choose Rainbow Environmental Services.

Rainbow will save us over $440,000!

There's a very large staff report on the trash franchise proposals. I think this will link directly to that report. If the link doesn't work, go to http://www.cityofrosemead.org and look for the city council meeting scheduled for March 13, 2012. The agenda packet will include the report.

The report shows the lower fees proposed by Rainbow Disposal would save Rosemead residents and business between $440,000 and $800,000 in the first year of the contract, alone! (The range is based on if the city chooses Consolidated or Athens instead of Rainbow).

Go with Rainbow, and our residential trash disposal rates would drop by nearly 1/3. Seems like a no-brainer to me, which is why I'm pretty sure our no-brain city council will choose someone else.
