Save Our Community was founded in the movement to resist Wal-Mart's development in Rosemead, California. Now, it has become a general site for news, information, gossip, talk, and blogging about Rosemead. We also have stories about South San Gabriel, San Gabriel, Montebello, and occasionally about Pico Rivera, El Monte, South El Monte, Alhambra, Temple City, and other nearby communities. Your host is Todd. If you want a blog just sign up, get approved, and start writing. Good posts will be moved onto the home page.
Check the Responses, and Eat Free Food
The final revised EIR [with responses to our comments] is now posted at the Applied Planning web site, www.appliedplanning.com . Go to the web site, click on public documents, and read Applied Planning's responses to our comments on the revised EIR. However, be advised that the revised final eir is over 330 pages. If you don't have a high-speed Internet connection, this'll take you almost forever to download. Even with a high speed connection, it'll take quite some time to download. It's a .pdf document, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat to read the report. I think there's a link at the Applied Planning site to download Adobe, but, of course, that will also take time.
I'll try to copy the document on to some CD-R's, in case anyone with a computer but no high-speed connection wants to take a look at it. If successful, I'll bring some to the SOC meeting tonight [12/7/05].
We'll be able to rebut their responses to our comments at the December 13th city council meeting, 7pm, in the Rosemead High School auditorium.
I got another post card in the mail yesterday. The Wal-Mart Sock Puppets, also known as Rosemead PRIDE, are having a "strategy meeting" at the public meeting room in Rosemead park [I'm assuming they mean the one at Mission and Encinitas, near Rosemead High School]. They'll meet at 5pm, and they are advertising a "buffet." So, hey, if you're free at 5pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, why not go and eat some of their food? It's likely that some of your tax dollars passed from the Rosemead city council to the Rosemead Chamber of Commerce to the Wal-Mart Sock Puppets to pay for this spread, so you might as well get your money's worth.
