No dice?

The SGV Tribune is reporting an upcoming "probable cause" checkpoint in West Covina. Cars with visible violations, including windows that are tinted too dark or dice hanging from the rear view mirror will be stopped, and checked for other violations. So, remember: If you're heading into West Covina, leave your dice at home!

The NY Times had a story

The NY Times had a story about sobriety checkpoints. It appears that they are being used to impound cars owned by illegal immigrants.

It's not that they don't like the immigrants, but, the fines collected, and any cash from selling the cars, appears to go into the municipal fund. The funding for checkpoints is from the state budget. So the immigrants are being exploited as a way to transfer money into the local coffers.
