Gloria Molina left me holding the bag!


I guess if you're termed out and unopposed in your election, you get to spend your money on things that will help raise your visibility for a possible future run for office. Supervisor Gloria Molina just sent me (and probably everyone else in the district) a reusable shopping bag.

"Sobriety" Checkpoints

According to the NYT, since 2006, police have increased their use of sobriety checkpoints.

At these "sobriety" checks, they also check for licenses. If drivers lack licenses, the cars are impounded. Recovering the car can cost in the range of $2,000 to cover fines and impound fees.

Vulcan Comment Period Extended

Today's SGV Tribune reports that the comment period for the Vulcan mining proposal in Azusa has been extended to Feb. 20.

Things are going from bad to worse in Mexico, where the LA Times reports that the lead investigator in Mexico of the murder of El Monte educator Bobby Salcedo has himself been murdered.
