Bobby Salcedo Memorial Highway

The Pomona Freeway from the Atlantic Avenue offramp in Monterey Park to the Rosemead City Limit has been named in honor of slain educator Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo.

Interesting Point

A comment posted a few days ago raises an interesting point:

2,760 valid ballots were cast in the last city council election. 1,989 of them included votes cast for Polly Low. 1989/2760=.7207, which means that, earlier this month, Polly Low received the votes of over 72% of the voters in Rosemead.

Who's the Next Mayor of Rosemead?

At the next city council meeting, once the election results are officially certified, the next order of business will be to pick a new mayor and mayor pro tem. Polly Low is overdue for this honor, since she's been on the council for four years. It will be interesting to see if the council members who insist that they don't do "negative voting" anymore will actually practice what they preach.

The San Gabriel Valley Journal reported results from Monterey Park and Rosemead. The big story? 13 percent voter turnout in Rosemead. That's pretty sad.

Rosemead Results

No surprises in Rosemead. Polly Low was easily reelected. She polled the most votes in every precinct.

Bill Alarcon finished second, well ahead of Alejandro Gandara.
