SR-710 Extension

For those who might be interested, Metro is putting together Community Liaison Councils ("CLCs") to provide local feedback and communication with concerned residents regarding the various 710 extension proposals that Metro has been working on. The one serving the Rosemead-San Gabriel area meets this Tuesday the 24th at Garvey Community Center (9108 E. Garvey Ave., Rosemead) at 6:00 PM.

CAL Poultry sues Rosemead

On the one hand, I'm amused. I also think it's a shame that 1) the city has forced a responsible business to hire a lawyer to stay in business, and, 2) Rosemead's stupid, politics-first city council members are forcing an already-broke city to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a lawsuit that the city council's actions brought upon itself.

Rosemead Sticks it to Local Businesses

They voted 3-2 to stick with Consolidated, even though switching to Rainbow would have saved both residents and businesses millions of dollars during the first year of the contract, and hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.

Post Scandal: Rosemead's deciscion to kill mixed-use

One thing of note in the Gong and Tran scandal is that when the deals were being done, Rosemead was starting to look at getting mixed-use developments. After Tran was ousted, Rosemead changed the General Plan to kill mixed-use.

Where's Waldo? Chinese New Year Edition

The first Chinese New Year celebration in Rosemead was held on Mission Avenue, just east of Valley. The second one (last year) was at the UFC Gym's parking lot, on Marshall, north of the San Bernardino Freeway. This year's was supposed to be on Saturday, January 21, at 8001 Garvey Avenue (where the Auto Auction used to be). The banner over Valley Blvd said the rain date would be January 28.

Savannah Cemetery Gains State Historical Landmark Status

Savannah Memorial Park (Cemetery) became the first site in the city of Rosemead granted state Historical Landmark status. The State Historical Resources Commission voted on Friday to recommend this decision.
