Searching for Prop 14 brings up a couple articles from Time magazine about an older Prop 14 from 1967.

That prop 14 was an effort to repeal the Rumford Act, a CA law that prohibited discrimination in housing. The far-right put together a law that was worded to sound like it would increase freedom, when, in fact, it would have allowed homeowners (and banks) to discriminate against minority buyers.

Even back then, the big bamboozle was in full effect.

Tom Wetzel has a good article about the history and decline of Bunker Hill. It's interesting to see how the hill changed, and he has ideas of why Downtown went into a decline.

This has nothing to do with Rosemead, but it's this scheme that's been going down in Los Angeles. Villaraigosa and the City are planning to sell street parking rights to a private company.

At least that's what Walter Moore is claiming on the interesting BudgetLA site.

It looks like the Republicans are listening to their big business masters, and doing their darndest to stall the confirmation of Hilda Solis.

They're really fighting dirty, trying to throw every small thing in her way. They didn't pull any of this crap when Larry Summers was picked because he's pro-business.

It seems Baldwin Park City Council officials want mixed use development with American chain stores, but are stuck between cultures and generations. I could see this being relevant to Rosemead, Montebello and Monterey Park, as well as other surrounding cities.

This is a very interesting blog by a very smart, clever attorney, and yes, who happens to be African-American, hence the title (sarcasm and irony) of his very popular blog, "the field negro" (which was recommended by Katie Couric, of all people).

There is a quote from this article that kind of encapsulates what the article is about.....["What's that saying? "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"? It was a friendship of convenience if you will"....]

Here is yet another article from this Jennifer McLain person.  Doesn't sound like she tries very hard to be objective or get the other's side opinion, although with lawsuits, city managers "cannot" talk about pending litigation (that's just standard), so sometimes it appears the plantiffs are in the right.  I hope I got the link correct this time.
